GROMSHOP

Well... it’s over, but man was it RADDD this year!
So much fun i could puke. Or is that just because i have a root beer hangover? Thanks to our sponsor Crater Lake Soda for the 4 kegs of the best root beer on the planet. Seriously that stuff is good!
First off, i want to give a HUGE thanks to all the Gromshop friends and fam who helped make Gromfest IV come to life this year. This year was a tough year due to minimal sponsorship $$$ and yet we all came together and still made it the best one yet.
Second, i want to thank all the sponsors, kids, and families that came out to the event. Without you all there wouldn’t be an event so give yourself a good pat on the back.
Let’s talk winners...
SAYFROG.com Ollie Contest
This contest is always a crowd favorite. Simple and every kid does this with their friends on a street near you. What made this year better than the previous years?? Our sponsor Alpha Ecological that’s what! They put up $300 in cash prizes for the winners of this years event!
WOW that’s big money for some kids
jumping over their friends boards.
Here are the winners...
6 to 9 - Cam #72
10 to 12 - Tameron #80
13 to 15 - Darius #101
VOLCOM Manual Contest & STONE Art Contest
Volcom was back again this year with the manual
contest and somethin new... the STONE Art
contest. Every year thay seem to step it up and
always bring tons of swag for the kids.
Here are the winners...
6 to 9 - Bradley Smith #24
10 to 12 - Greg Dehart #60
13 to 15 - Ben Sauer GROMSHOP TEAM
10 winners were selected by Volcom for the
STONE art. Come in the
Gresham Gromshop and
see all the stones hung from
the ceiling.
BACON SKATEBOARDS Rail Slide Contest
The new comers “Bacon” came correct this year
with a super fun rail slide contest. This one was
all out mayhem as all the ages went for it in a
jam format. The Bacon team/crew including
PRO skater Benji Galoway was stokin’ out kids
with decks, tee’s, hats, and more for tricks they
liked, and just hookin kids up who were tryin’
their hardest. Everybody loves BACON and we
would love to have them back for Gromfest V.
GROMSHOP Parent Child Teams Contest
Ah yes, one of the funnest to watch fo sho! This year we decided to let some guys adopt a kid because there were only 3 actual parent/child teams and one of them had to roll out due to an injury (he’s OK). As soon as heard that Caz Helmsteter wanted to adopt Ben Sauer i knew who was gonna win this one. But like i said in this event everyone is
a winner! It was really funny... after a really long 10min. the OLD MEN were all doubled over gasping for a breath of air. Hope someone got a pic of that.
GROMSHOP Best Trick Contest
Last but definatly not least was the Best Trick Contest. Now this is an extreamly hard contest to judge because there were so many good tricks goin on at once. I saw Ben throw down a HUGE kick-flip to flat over the weird launch loding dock thingy. That was just a
small peice of what went
down though! You have to
just be there for this one.
Here are the winners:
6 to 9 - Bradley Smith
10 to 12 - Greg Dehart
13 to 15 - Ben Sauer
Other random stuff
We gave away a pair of special edition Johnny Romano Thunder Etnies to the kid with the most busted pair of shoes.
Thanks to our sponsor
Deluxe Dist. and Thunder
Trucks for that one.

Flow snowboard to one lucky
kid who spun the wheel and
won the raffle at the PCG tent.
DL threds also gave away some
decks just for signing up on their
email list.
Krew was givin’ away a ton of
posters and hats if you spin the
wheel and land on a Krew spot.
The music was on point this year too! With DJ Gravy back and a new band this year “Work in Progress” we had good tunes all day!

THIS WAS RAD!!!!
So i had to make a
note about one of
the coolest things
ever at Gromfest!
This lil dude in the
pic was tryin’ sooo
hard to land a
boardslide and just
beating himself to death. I saw him take at least three tailbone shots and just get up and go for it again. Well i wasn’t the only one who was paying attention... Bacon Pro Benji Galoway was also seein’ this kid go to work. So he went over to the kid gave him some “pro” tips and POW next shot the kid had it! That was truly what i want Gromfest to be all about. No spotlights... just skatin’ with friends pushing yourself and having fun. Pro’s skating with the kids and giving pointers and high fives, not sitting behind a table signing autographs while kids spend most of the day standing around watching and waiting.
